Privacy Notice
This notice explains what personal data Blind Table collects in the Singapore beta, why we collect it, and the choices you have. It is written for Singapore’s Personal Data Protection Act 2012 (PDPA). It should be read with our Terms & Conditions.
1. Who we are
Blind Table is a Singapore-based beta project. In this notice, “we”, “us” and “Blind Table” mean the Blind Table team. We are the organisation responsible for the personal data described here.
2. What we collect
Waitlist data
- your email address;
- the referral code you used, your own referral code, and how many people joined through it;
- the source of your visit (for example, direct, referral or a campaign tag);
- the version of the consent you accepted and the time you joined; and
- a hashed form of your IP address, used only for rate limiting and abuse prevention.
Account and onboarding data
- your sign-in identity: a Google account identifier and email, or a Singapore mobile number;
- your character: display name, side, avatar look, voice settings and age-verification status (mock);
- your deal-breakers, 20 answers, computed personality traits and onboarding progress;
- your five second-date availability choices, if you provide them in the full flow;
- your match-alert email preference, XP and profile settings; and
- session information in a signed, HttpOnly cookie.
Data kept in your browser
- a local profile cache, testimonies, downtown contacts and waitlist referral code;
- a mock account in local development when the auth mock is enabled; and
- normal browser storage used by the app and any optional live captions.
Technical and safety data
Our hosting and database providers may process request logs, device and browser information, and error reports to keep the service running and secure. We do not record audio or video. The optional microphone and live-caption features run locally in your browser in this build.
3. How we use it
- to manage the waitlist, referral position and beta invitations;
- to create and secure your account and let you sign in;
- to save your character, answers, deal-breakers, preferences and progress;
- to run the downtown Singapore preview and remember your contacts;
- when matching opens, to build compatible tables and schedule dates;
- to send you service messages and, if you opt in, match or launch emails;
- to prevent spam, abuse, fraud and security incidents; and
- to understand how the beta is used and improve it.
We do not sell your personal data. We do not use your answers to show you advertising. We do not publish your answers as a compatibility score.
4. Our legal bases
Under the PDPA, we rely on:
- your consent for the waitlist, marketing emails and optional features;
- performing our agreement with you to provide the account and preview;
- our legitimate interests in running, securing and improving the beta, balanced against your rights; and
- legal obligations where we must keep or disclose information.
You can withdraw consent for marketing at any time. Withdrawing consent for essential account data may mean we can no longer provide the service.
6. Retention
We keep waitlist data while the waitlist and beta are running, and account data while your account is active. We keep security logs for a limited period. If you ask us to delete your data, we will remove it unless we need to keep it for a legal, security or dispute-resolution reason. Backups may take a short time to expire.
8. Security
We use HTTPS, signed sessions, access controls, rate limiting and validation to protect the beta. No online service is completely secure. Please use a unique password for your email and tell us promptly if you think your account has been compromised.
The mobile OTP in this build is mocked and no SMS is sent. Do not rely on it as a real identity check, and do not use a phone number that is not yours.
9. Your rights
Subject to the PDPA, you can ask us to:
- give you access to the personal data we hold about you;
- correct inaccurate data;
- delete your account or waitlist entry;
- withdraw consent for marketing or optional processing; and
- explain how we handled your data.
Email privacy@blindtable.sg. We may need to verify your identity before acting. If you are not satisfied, you can contact the Personal Data Protection Commission of Singapore at pdpc.gov.sg.
10. Age
The beta is for people aged 21 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 21. If you believe a minor has given us personal data, contact us and we will remove it.
11. Overseas processing
Our hosting and database providers may process data outside Singapore. Where that happens, we take reasonable steps to ensure the data receives a comparable standard of protection, including contractual safeguards with our providers.
12. Changes
We may update this notice as the beta changes. We will post the new version here with a new effective date and, for material changes, tell you through the app or by email. The version you accepted when joining the waitlist is recorded.
